I got this

Firstly I would like to thank Nikki Rae, author of Sun Poisoned for giving me
this wonderful opportunity of reading and reviewing her fabulous book.
The story is ‘OH.MY.GOD’ awesome! The first book was great and this one is
super great. The way the characters and the plot developed in this sequence is
remarkable and hats off to Nikki for her award-winning world-making and writing
skills. She just nailed it, literally!
The emotional whirlwind that Sophie faces will suck the reader in this turmoil
too and you’ll be left devastated after experiencing this heart wrenching pain
that Sophie is undergoing. The presentation is awesome and the way the story
took off is just perfect.
The sequence starts where sunshine left us, well totally desperate and anxious
for the next book in this series and let me tell you that the author kept her
word and didn't disappoint her readers, not at all. If you loved Sunshine then
you’re going to heart Sun Poisoned.
The chemistry and relation between Myles and Sophie is the cream and essence of
this story and the author made this essence more developed and flourished which
spiced up the story as well.
The story takes unusual paths and you’ll be shocked when the biggest secrets
will come into the path of light. I’m really impressed by this sequel and I’m
anxious waiting for the next book Sun Damaged to release.
Hope to get a chance to review it as well, after all these kind of fresh and
unusual stories are hard to find nowadays! So grab your copy and enjoy!

Firstly I
would like to thank Nikki Rae, author of Sunshine for giving me this wonderful
opportunity of reading and reviewing her fabulous book.
The ride was
really interesting and mesmerizing. The plot and story line is totally unique
and fresh and doesn't make you roll your eyes at the end of every chapter. The
world that the author created was perfect and fully flourished that at times
the story seemed real unlike other books where you cannot connect with the
story at all and I kept on reading aloud Sophie’s dialogues like I got
transported into her character.
I loved the
story and the kick-ass heroine Sophie won hearts and stole the day for me. She
was strong, confident and totally butt-kicking and had a great fashion sense
with a modern touch to it, well you know the adorable pink hair! She wasn't
weak, whimsical, delusional damsel in distress who has to be rescued by the
mighty vampire all the times, even from tripping on her own feet and falling
butt first on her own front porch! (Well guys you’re quite clever to know whom
I’m indicating).
Myles, oh
Myles! Girls you’re going to chant his name just like I did after reading the
story. He’s to-die-for handsome with a sense of fashion unlike our other vamps
having old-hag fashion style. He is sexy (well that’s obvious) and sweet as
well (deadly combination).
Well, guys
it's time that you stop chanting Edward Cullen’s name because Nikki provided us
all with a better option and you'll love to move on with sexy Myles.
The
supporting characters were great and really added spice to the story and as the
story progresses you’ll be totally surprised by the unexpected twists and turns
that our brilliant author came up with.
All in all a
great paranormal and YA genre story which ya all are definitely going to love
and the cover of the book, well do I have to say something about that? I don’t
think so, it’s totally obvious that it mesmerized people on the first sight and
won half the points for our beloved author.
So grab your
copy folks and you won’t regret your decision, I bet!

Topic: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Becoming a Published Author
1.
There’s the
writing and editing side of being self-published and then there’s the
promoting, getting people to read your work and review it side. They’re both
rewarding in different ways, and going into it, I knew it would be a lot of
work. I just didn’t take into account just how much. Slowly, I’ve adjusted to
it and fit it all into my schedule, but when I was first starting out, it was
challenging.
2.
That once my
work was out there, I was able to breathe. For me, stories well up and build
inside of me. I need to write. I have to. For a while, I thought publishing my
work would take that magic away and only cause a feeling of dread because my
stories are so personal to me, and I didn’t want anyone judging them. But I’ve
found that once a story is out there, it no longer belongs to just me. People
like them or hate them and over time I’ve made my peace with that.
3.
Work-shopping
still works. I only ever work-shopped stuff that I never thought would see the
light of day and never anything I’ve had hopes of publishing. I think that was
mostly fear, and I wanted to keep my workshop life and my author life private.
But recently, I’ve started sharing work I want to one day put out there, and
the responses have been awesome, and I’m learning even more about myself.
4.
The internet
is your friend. When I first started, I didn’t want a twitter or a goodreads or
anything like that. But I think the internet is an amazing tool that you
absolutely need if you want to be an author right now. I get to tell everyone
news the moment it happens, like when my books go on sale. I can talk with
readers and connect with people too, which is one of the things I like most
about being a self-published author..
5.
Just how
much my work would affect people. The Sunshine Series deals with a lot of heavy
issues. I knew that the book(s) had the potential to turn people off to me as
an author or that some wouldn’t understand what I was trying to do. Although
that’s happened a few times (which is fine), mostly readers have responded
positively to the dark subject matter I like to put into my writing, and some
have reached out to me to share their stories as well. Again, this is a
connection. One that wouldn't have happened if I hadn’t pushed that little
publish button.
6.
How many
doors this would open for me. My first book, Sunshine, came out January 28th,
2013. It hasn’t even been out a year. Since I published it, I’ve been on
Amazon’s top 100 ebooks for three months straight, made amazing connections
with bloggers and other authors, spoken at two colleges about “my journey”, and
I was even interviewed for a TV show (a local one, but still freaking cool!).
When I published, I thought a few people would read my book and I would have
been fine with that, but so much more has come out of it than I could have ever
imagined.
7.
I’ve become
a better editor. Editing is something I’ve always loved doing for my writer
friends and workshop buddies. Being published somehow puts a new spin on
things. When you have the fact in the back of your head that hundreds(or more)
people will be reading your work, it makes you strive to be even better, edit
your work more, and carry it through to when you're editing the work of others.
8.
Time
management is the key. Before I was published, I let stories build up and then
wrote them out whenever I felt like it. Now, I have deadlines, people wanting
to read more, and so I have to schedule out my writing time more, which in my
opinion, has made me a stronger writer, because I have to write more.
9.
I’m in
control of everything. I get to set the deadlines, the release dates, write the
blurb on the back of the book, etc. At times it can be overwhelming, but mostly
I love this aspect. I’m my own boss and the amount of work I do directly
affects how well my books do.
10.How
supportive real-life people would be. When you’re a writer, people tend to say,
“oh that’s nice”, ask you a few questions about what you write about and that’s
that. When you tell them you’re on Amazon, or that they can actually get your
book to read, a lot of them are interested. I thought the opposite would
happen. I was taught that self-publishing meant that you couldn’t get published
any other way. It was something to be ashamed of and not talked about. And that
still happens to me of course, but I think that it’s changing. People like how
accessible my books are, and they view me as more of a “real” person.
